Elected Director election ballot
The ballot was conducted in accordance with the Board Election Regulations and has been audited, signed off and approved by CorpVote (the independent election company), the Corporate Governance and Risk Committee (non-conflicted), the Board (non-conflicted) and the Company Secretary. Candidates have been provided with detailed information regarding the allocation of votes and preferences, on a confidential basis.
Prescribed count method
The prescribed count method that is applied to these elections is multiple preferential which means primary votes for each candidate are counted and the candidate with the fewest number of primary votes is excluded from the count and their preferences are distributed among the remaining candidates. The secondary votes of the excluded candidate are distributed to the remaining candidates and a new progressive total is calculated, the candidate then with the fewest number is next excluded and their preferences are distributed. This process of exclusion is continued until only four candidates remains in the count. Further information relating to this voting method can be found via the Australian Electoral Commission or via this Preferential Voting Demonstration video.
Appointed Director, Trainee
Dr Ava Carter has been appointed to the Appointed Director, Trainee position on the RANZCP Board for a second term.
Appointing a trainee to the Board is one of many steps that the Board continues to work and commit to ensuring the trainee voice in all College matters. Following a successful two years of having an Appointed Director, Trainee position on the Board, the Board has furthered this commitment and recently agreed to a term extension. The Appointed Director, Trainee is now eligible for re-appointment at the end of the first term, to serve a maximum of two consecutive one-year terms.
In accordance with the RANZCP’s Constitution, the Director terms will be ratified at the RANZCP’s Annual General Meeting to be held on 22 May 2024.
